I’m a portrait photographer on a mission. Which is to create beautiful portraits full of real character and personality. Because, I think the best portraits are always authentic and natural. Don’t you? That’s why I prefer to bring your portrait photo shoot to you if possible. Somewhere in Edinburgh and the Lothians (or beyond) where you feel comfortable, relaxed and can be yourself.

Location photo shoots can provide fabulous opportunities to create unique, eye catching images. Indoors or outdoors (or a bit of both). Anywhere in Edinburgh, Lothian and beyond.
For example, if you would like some family portraits this can be at your home or in the garden. Or business headshots could be at your place of work. Promo portraits can be somewhere that reflects your style…
Get the studio look...
If you prefer the studio look, with a plain background and studio lighting I can bring my pop-up studio to you. Of course, you will need to have a suitable indoor space available.
Alternatively, I can arrange your shoot at a professional photo studio in central Edinburgh or West Lothian.

So who's in the frame?
Your portrait photo shoot
My standard portrait sessions include a one hour photo shoot at your chosen location (see above).
After your shoot I’ll process the photos, including standard editing (blemish removal etc) and create your own private online gallery. It’ll be password and ssl secured. So you can conveniently view your photos and choose your favourites online.
Convenient online viewing
So there’s no need to arrange a follow up viewing appointment. Unless you want one, of course.
Even better—you’ll be able to download your photos from your personal online gallery directly to your device at screen resolution.
These digital downloads are ideal for viewing on a mobile device and sharing on social media (no watermarks).
Online ordering too
While your gallery downloads are perfect for viewing on screen they won’t really be suitable for printing.
So you’ll also be able to order your favourites as prints, photo books, wall art and full resolution digital photo files directly from your gallery. With prices from just £8!

Now for the when, where, what and how stuff?
I hope this is of interest. You may have questions. I’ve tried to answer some below. Just click the heading to see more. But please don’t hesitate to get in touch for anything else. (See ‘Get in touch’ below)
When?
I am happy to fit in with your schedule. And can arrange shoots morning, afternoon and evening (night time too), 7 days a week. Subject to availability of course.
Where
Usually I will come to your chosen location, indoors or outdoors. throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians (and beyond). Note that some locations have photography restrictions. If you think this may apply to where you would like to have your portrait shoot please check first. If you select a location with restrictions when booking I’ll get in touch to rearrange.
I can also arrange a studio shoot or specific location if preferred. But note that these options are subject to availability and additional charges and can’t be self booked through my booking page. Please get in touch for more info.
What (about travel charges)
I do not usually charge extra for shoots within Central Scotland. But if you are considering a shoot outside of the ‘central belt’ please get in touch to check if there would be any ‘mileage’ charge.
What (to wear)
Dark clothing tends to slenderize, light clothing can look beautifully fresh. Whatever makes you feel comfortable, confident and happy.
That said, it’s probably best to avoid:
- Items that are all the same colour/too matchy-matchy.
- Loud, clashing colours & patterns. This can be overwhelming and will take away from the photos.
- Avoid overly logo-studded items too. Fashion can be so fickle!
- Choose items that are flattering and fit well – not too baggy (unless that’s your thing of course).
What (about props etc)
I only bring some props for children’s portrait party shoots. However, if you would like to include any of your own props, costumes and stuff in the shoot that would be fine by me. Let me know before your shoot and maybe I can suggest options to achieve the look you want.
What (if it's bad weather)
OK. If you book an outdoor shoot which cannot go ahead because of poor weather you will have the option to switch to an indoor location (if you have one available); or reschedule to another available day / time.
How (do I view the photos)
After your photo shoot I will edit the photos and create your very own password protected and ssl secure online photo gallery which you can access via my website. I will email a link and the password as soon as your gallery is online. So that way you will be able to view your photos whenever you wish. And you’re more than welcome to share the password with family and friends too.
How (do I get the photos)
The best bit is that there’s no need for a ‘viewing appointment’. You’ll be able to download your favourites directly from your online gallery at screen resolution. Ideal for viewing on smartphone or tablet or sharing on social media. Plus, you can conveniently order beautiful prints, albums and contemporary wall art along with printable high resolution image files through your own private online gallery for direct delivery. That way you only pay for the items that you really want and there’s no sales pressure.
How (much is it)
My portrait shoots start at £195. This includes a 1 hour shoot, photo editing and your own private, password protected online gallery with unlimited downloads at screen resolution and the option to buy your favourites as prints or high res digitals.
